국내학술대회 – 디지털 포스트 휴먼의 조건: 매체와 감각
서울시립대학교 도시인문학연구소에서 한국연구재단 인문사회연구소지원사업의 일환으로 ‘국내학술대회 – 디지털 포스트 휴먼의 조건: 매체와 감각‘ 을 개최합니다.
저희 연구소에서는 디지털 시대의 인문적 도시공동체 제안하기 위해서는 무엇보다도, 디지털 시대 도시공간에 새롭게 등장한 인간존재 규명이 필요하다고 생각했습니다.
디지털 포스트 휴먼은 ‘포스트(post)’ 이전과 이후를 구분하고 그로부터 벗어나거나 그 영향이후라는 반응적 연구에서 더 나아가, 포스트 휴먼의 조건을 디지털 특히 매체와 감각의 결합이라는 측면에 좀 더 긍정적이고 적극적인 방식으로 해명해보려 합니다.
이는 디지털 매체를 비행위자이자 단순히 중개자(intermediary)가 아니라 매개자(mediator)의 역할로 이해하고, 감각의 변화를 인한 디지털 포스트 휴먼으로의 존재론적 전환을 이해하려는 시도이기도 합니다.
특히 이번 학술대회는 코로나19로 인한 사회적 거리두기를 준수하기 위해 ZOOM을 이용한 화상회의로 개최됩니다.

포스트휴먼 융합인문학 협동과정 신설
이화여자 대학교 일반대학원 협동과정에 “포스트휴먼융합인문학협동과정”이 신설되었습니다.

다양한 학문간 융복합 연구를 위한 협동과정으로 신설된 “포스트휴먼융합인문학협동과정”은 인문학을 바탕으로 테크놀로지, 생태학, 자연과학 분야의 첨단 지식 교육을 통합 제공하여 과학기술 리터러시를 지닌 창의적 융합인문학 인재 양성을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 홈페이지에 나와있는 전공 안내를 간단히 소개 드립니다.
“인공지능과 생명기술, 정보통신기술 같은 신흥기술(emerging technologies)의 급속한 발전은 단지 산업과 경제의 문제가 아니라 우리 생활세계 자체의 급격히 변동을 야기했고, 인간적 활동의 의미와 삶의 근본 가치를 새롭게 사유하도록 요청하고 있습니다. ‘포스트휴먼’은 이와 같은 급변하는 삶의 현실을 가늠하기 위한 개념적 도구입니다. ‘포스트휴먼’은, 근대적 휴머니즘(Humanism)의 사유틀이 이 변화하는 시대를 성찰하기에 이미 낡았다는 것, 따라서 ‘인간(human being)’ 존재와 삶의 의미를 재정의하고 재발명하기 위해 새로운 인문학이 요청된다는 것을 지시합니다. 이러한 요청에 답하고자하는 포스트휴먼 융합인문학은 현실을 분석할 새로운 언어를 모색하고 새로운 융합인문학 패러다임을 실험합니다. 디지털신호/물질/생명 사이의 경계 해체와 상호 침투, 기술과 생명이 혼융된 삶의 현실, 인류세의 생태 위기와 기후위기 등을 직시하면서, 포스트휴먼 융합인문학은 포스트휴먼 현상의 명암을 조명하고 지속가능한 미래를 위한 인문학적 대응을 모색합니다. “
현재 2020학년 9월에 시작하는 가을 학기 석사, 박사, 석박사 통합 과정의 학생을 모집하고 있습니다. 인터넷 원서 접수 기간은 2020.4.13(월) 13:00 – 2020.4.21(화) 17:00 이며, 서류 제출을 포함하여 자세한 사항은 이화여대 입학처의 일반대학원 모집 안내을 참고하시면 됩니다.

두 가지 공지사항이 있습니다.
먼저 3월말~4월초에 개최 예정이었던 <포스트휴먼 연구자 네트워크 창립 학술대회>는 코로나 19 문제 때문에 잠정 연기하기로 결정하였습니다. 현재 많은 분들이 발표를 지원해 주셔서 총 12개의 발표가 예정되어 있습니다. 코로나 문제가 어느 정도 진정이 되면, 다시 학술대회 일정을 상의하여 추후 공지하도록 하겠습니다.

탈경계인문학: 포스트휴먼 특집 투고 안내
이화인문과학원이 발행하는 『탈경계인문학 TRANS-HUMANITIES(KCI 등재학술지)』는 인문학 기반의 융복합 연구를 위한 종합 학술지입니다. 21세기 급변하는 정치, 사회, 문화적 현실과 첨단 기술 환경, 생태 위기 등을 사유하는 인문학적 비평과 대안을 담은 문학/철학/역사학, 생태학, 예술/미디어, 기술과학 등의 학제적 융합 연구를 환영합니다. 인문 융합 연구의 새로운 지평을 열어갈 도전적 연구자들의 많은 참여를 기다립니다.
본 학술지는 연 2회(4월 30일, 10월 30일) 발간됩니다.
※ 『탈경계인문학 TRANS-HUMANITIES』 제27호(2020년 4월 30일 발간) 에서는 일반 논문과 함께 기획특집 원고를 모집합니다.
기획특집: 포스트휴먼 관점에서 본 생명
생명공학과 유전정보학, 합성생물학, 줄기세포 연구, 생명연장기술 등 첨단 기술의 급격한 발달은 생명의 경계 뿐 아니라 삶과 죽음의 의미를 바꾸고 있습니다. 지난 호의 기획특집 “신체: 기계와 생명”에 이어, 제27호에서는 포스트휴먼의 관점에서 생명 개념을 재조명하는 다양한 각도의 융복합 인문학 연구를 통해 점검해 보고자 합니다. 전통적인 인문학 뿐 아니라 예술/문학/역사/미디어, 자연과학 및 기술학 분야의 논점을 망라할 수 있기를 기대하며, 다양한 분과의 연구를 환영합니다.

BODIES IN THE CLIMATE CHANGE ERA (CALL FOR PAPERS)

This two-day conference (hosted by Konkuk University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Sichuan University) seeks to address theorizing about the body in the era of climate change. Climate change has had increasingly intimate corporeal, and the widening gap between the rich and the poor has only exacerbated these matters, as has the global rise in right-wing extremism. And while advances in genetic research offer startling rewards of overcoming human vulnerability, they also prompt concern about corporeal borders and boundaries—physical and ethical.
New materialist theories about agency and matter have led to productive analyses of intersections among gender, race, food, sexuality, class, and species as they relate with corporeal issues and climate change. What this Forum Kritika seeks are theoretical understandings of those intersections in the Climate Change Era.
— How can we discuss from literary works and mass media the ways in which various natural materials threaten human corporeal constitution? What, for instance, are the microbial threats we face as the organisms our vaccines and antibiotics control become immune? What are the legitimacy and implications of body upgrading prosthetics, technological body modifications, organ transplants, including the transhumanist desire for homo deus? What are the changing status of the body in constructing human identity, subjectivity, citizenship, and collectivity? What is the ethical care in this critical age of the Anthropocene?
— What are the relationships between violence (ecological, cybernetic, psychological, physical, symbolic, and so on) and the imagined integrity/dis-integration of the body as both an ontological and material space, and how are these relationships impacted by climate change?
— How can we theorize about the ways in which our phobias (ecophobia, transphobia, germophobia, homophobia, and so on) compromise modalities of the production and transformations of bodies?
— How can we theorize about corporeality in body upgrading and modification?
— How important are matters about food and why?
— What can we gain from literary and cultural investigations of non-human corporeality?
Submissions must address climate change in some way and may include but are not restricted to the following topics:
•corporeal borders and boundaries, visible and imagined
•the migrating body
•multicultural and multiracial bodies
•trauma, violence, or terror
•queer and transgender citizenship
•monstrous bodies
•disability studies
•body art (implants, painting, piercings, tattoos, scarification, sculpting, shaping) and body modifications
•vegan studies, food, and meat
•coloniality, postcoloniality, and tribal sovereignty
•cyborg bodies, post- and transhumanism, and ecocriticism
•biopolitics and medical engineering of reproduction, sexual identity, and gender
•eco-feminism
•#metoo, sexual harassment, gendered audiences
Please send abstracts of no more than 250 words (along with a biographical note of the same length) to Dr. Jonggab Kim (jonggab@konkuk.ac.kr) and Dr. Simon C. Estok (estok@skku.edu) by 01 February 2020. Selected essays will be published in a Special Issue of Kritika Kultura in August 2021.
포스트휴먼 연구자 네트워크 2020년 3월 창립 학술대회 논문 발표자 공모 (CALL FOR PAPERS)
포스트휴먼과 포스트휴머니즘은 국내외 학계의 가장 중요한 의제가 되었습니다. 포스트휴먼 연구자 네트워크는 이 주제에 관심 있는 한국의 연구자, 예술가, 시민 들의 연대입니다. 지난 2019년 12월 21일에 ‘우리는 왜 포스트휴먼을 말하는가?’라는 주제로 건국대학교에서 창립 학술포럼을 개최한 바 있습니다.
우리 네트워크는 더욱 심화된 논의를 이어나가기 위해 총회와 더불어 ‘포스트휴먼을 말하다’를 주제로 하여 창립 학술대회를 개최하고자 합니다. 다양한 분야의 다양한 연구 주제들로 포스트휴먼과 포스트휴머니즘 논의를 확장하기 위해 연구자들의 관심과 참여가 필요합니다. 선생님의 혜안이 담긴 발표 논문을 기대합니다.
